About Us

Comforting Blankets started in March of 2007, in that time the group has brightened the day of many cancer patients. Some have cried and said how much the blanket meant to them and that they had never received anything like that before. A few said that they were going to take the blanket to their cancer treatments to give them comfort while they are there. Some have brought their blanket with them when they got their bone marrow transplant (in Boston), to give them something from home to hold onto. As you can see these blankets make a big difference in their lives. Sometimes something so small, can mean so much.

Company history

The founder of Comforting Blankets is myself, Bobbie Dumond. The group started out just giving blankets to the cancer patients that I take care of, at Easter Maine Medical Center, Grant 6 Oncology in Bangor, Maine. In one year time I gave out over 191 blankets to cancer patients just at the hospital alone. With a lot of help from: my family, friends, local Churches, and local businesses. I would like to give to even more cancer patients, but I would need your help.

I would like to thank my sister-in-law Darlene Dumond, for all the baking she does for our bake sales. The help she does for all our fundraisers, purchasing blankets when we run out. Most of all, for always willing to help. I don't know what I would do without her help...thank you so much.
