Poems that I have wrote

With the way that I feel about the cancer patients (and their families) in mind when I wrote these poems.

This poem I wrote in hopes that the (cancer) patients that we take care of, really knows how we feel.

One Tear

We have been told

To be strong

For the patient

That they need us to be

They are the ones

That are

Strong

Brave

Not willing to

Quit

We take care of

Them with big smiles

But it is them

Who make our day

Just by the big smiles

That they give us

We both try so hard

To smile

But with every

Pain

That you feel

We do too

When we have been

Through so much

When it comes to

The ending

Hours

When you are

No longer looking

A tear falls from our eye.

When writing this poem, I was thinking what a hard job it has to be to make these finial decisions.

You will always be with me

As I watch you sleep

You look so peaceful
How can I let you go?

How can I decide what to do?

Not knowing what to do

I sit and look outside

Down at the river’s edge

Watching a Mother eagle

Teaching its baby to fly

The baby eagle struggles

Putting my head in my hands

How can I let go?

You’ve always been there for me

I tell myself

To be strong

You need me to be

Looking back

The baby eagle is now

Flying on its own

It wings a little shaky

Looking up

It sees the Mother eagle

Now looking down on the baby

Giving it the strength

To fly on

Like the baby eagle

I can be brave

Knowing

You will always be with me

Looking down

Giving me the strength

To fly on

I wrote this poem; to show people that you might not know what to say, but sometimes just being there for the cancer patient is all they need.

Just be here

Sometimes

You might know what to say

But that's ok

Just be here

For me

Sometimes

You might Feel sad

To see me

But that's ok

That's when I'm here

For you

Just look into

My eyes

You can see

The love that we have

Between us

Our love is what will take us through

this time that we have together

Just hold my hand

And I'll hold yours

Together we'll be here

Just remember

Our love

Together

We are strong

Just be here for me

Just always remember

I'll always be here

For you.

Leaves

Our lives are like

The green leaves

Bright and full of life

When we are sick

The green slowly leaves us

Making us brittle

And ready to fall

Now turning a bright red

We are still full of life

Not willing to quit

But some days

It's hard to hold on

The wind comes by

And grabs a hold

Not willing to let go

Holding onto us

Like a true friend would

Never to let us fall.

You’re never alone

When you first find out
That you have cancer
You say, not me!
You yell
You cry
You can’t even think straight

At first you might feel a loss
Making you feel sad
Just around the corner
There is a friend that can help
Be there for you

When you walk down
The some times long road
To recovery
There may be some bumps in the road
Making you feel like
Is there ever an end

When you get to the fork in the road
Reach out your hand
This is when
You are never alone.
